Gerald's Law: A provision that provides veterans in hospice care the option of spending their final days at home without losing their VA burial benefits. Commander Jackson's Message To All of Our Legion Family, With Independence Day approaching we would like to ask all to remember our Veterans who don't have a way to get out or just can't get out, to keep them in your thoughts, a card, Phone call or even ask if they would like to come out for a while. We have asked our Veterans to ride in our local parades or just Speak a few Words at our Bar b ques, this is Respect in its best way. We also need to consider our Veterans that have issues with Fireworks, not everyone can deal with that the same way, a kind reminder of that to your neighbors helps tremendously. Thank You All Legion Family , This weekend was so well attended by All our Legion Family, Fridays support of Pfc. Anthony J Lopa's internment at Brig. Gen. Doyle's Mem. Cemetery. The Family was so taken by the true support and care shown by All. Saturday the "Sarges Ruck Walk " was hot , but that didn't stop the attendance. So many came out and walked to Support our Veterans who need the support of a service dog to help them deal with their service-connected issues. Team RWB was full force alongside our Legion Family and the community for this annual affair. Finally, Sunday The Annual Highpoint Memorial Service called for rain ,but that didn't deter the many of attending American Legion Families from showing up , We thank the Highpoint Chairman Rodger Gengero and his Committee as Well as the Sussex Cty. Leadership for conducting the Ceremonies. The rain held out for the Final Prayer , Then the Hospitality of Post 213 Charles Auberger members presented was very welcoming. To All Our Legion Family , It was Great seeing so many at the Cathedral of the Air in Lakehurst today for the first actual Worship Service in quite some time. Capt. James Howell was kind enough to share his review of the condition of the Chapel as he went through with Military Engineers to assess and issues and had very good results to talk about. ( a full review will be coming) The building was full to capacity more than I have seen before , so Great showing Legion Family of your combined support from all over the State . There will be more worship events posted soon . You All made Me , Charline and Rich very happy with your attendance , now write it in your consolidated reports forms to submit for next year . Post 129 Leadership requests a STRONG LEGION FAMILY presence for this event. With the issues from the past concerning the COA, we feel that a Strong Legion presence will send a message that we have and will always have interest in the preservation of this Important New Jersey Landmark... On Sunday, June 23rd at 1 :30 pm there will be a religious service to commemorate the 92nd anniversary of the cathedral groundbreaking on June 26th, 1932. By our account, the last religious service held at the cathedral was around April 2012 and we are looking forward to gathering once again in this historic and illuminating place. CEMETERY VETERAN FLAGS VANDALIZED At Mt Prospect Cemetery in Neptune, flags from veterans' graves have been removed, leaving only the wooden sticks. Roughly twenty graves have been vandalized. This happened a year ago as well, and was thought to be random vandalism. The same graves had their flags removed this year, barely a week since the flags were placed by volunteers from American Legion Post 346 in Neptune. SAL Commander Gary Crawford said, "For this to happen, right before Memorial Day, is an insult to our Veterans. Our crew placed 1800 flags in six cemeteries, and fired rifle volleys over nine cemeteries this past Sunday. We work hard to honor our fallen, and then we see this " "This hurts even more, as our oldest member, 99-year old Past Commander and World War Two Veteran Henry Lynch just passed away and his funeral is today,"
