About

It shall be the duty of this committee to prepare and follow through to execution an educational program whereby the general public and youth of the state are apprised of the endeavor of The American Legion to promote patriotism and respect for law and order.. Citizen classes, flag instructions, and speakers on patriotic programs should be arranged. Copies of the Americanism Handbook should be placed in the hands of proper officers at every Post. This committee shall act in an advisory capacity for all inter-post activities coordinating the county activities along these lines.

Coloring Contest

2025 coloring contest shall be distributed to students in the 4th and 5th Grades by various Posts throughout the state. The coloring of the picture will be attested to by the student's teacher. Neatness and accuracy in coloring the picture are most important in this undertaking.


Posts will judge their own contests. First place winners will be turned over to the County Americanism Chairman who will select the first place county winner to be turned over to Department Chairman.

New Jersey Department Finals

1st Place Gold Medal and $300 check

2nd Place Silver Medal and $200 check

3rd Place Bronze Medal and $100 check

Other Americanism Awards

Time frame for all awards is March 1-2024 to February 28-2025, inclusive.
