Happy Independence Day!

July 1, 2023

Guest post from Frank L Landis Sr.

Chairman Department Americanism Committee

Fireworks exploding in the night sky, with bursts of red, gold, and white light.

Tuesday, July 4th marks the 247th anniversary of the ratification of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of our great Nation. The United States of America was founded on the ideals of justice, freedom, democracy, and loyalty. These ideals are on full display throughout the American Legion and its programs, as well as being on display in our own Counties, Posts, and communities.

As we come together to celebrate our Country’s independence, let us also remember to teach our youth why this day is not just about BBQ and fireworks, but it is also about our independence and the freedoms our founding fathers worked so hard for. These are some of the principles that your Department Americanism Committee strives to highlight all year long. We hope that you, your family, and your community have a safe and happy Independence Day.
